Mom's Love

Today is Mother's Day...

To a lot of people it's a day where they would shower their moms with gifts, flowers and such. That is sweet, indeed, but what about the rest of the year? Most people won't even bother to pick up the phone to check upon their moms.

But no matter what we give, it won't ever be enough.

If we just show a little more respect, then wouldn't be that the kind of love every mother deserves?





I remember watching the same story shared on the video above on a AbdulAziz Al-Mussalam series one day; I wonder what's the origin of that story...

It's wonderful regardless.

It just shows that no matter how badly you think of your mother, and how much you can never understand her (even if you have kids of your own sometimes), you can't truly see the way she cares about you, let alone ever repay here deeds.

For all those times you've kept her awake at night just for a stupid meaningless thing (mostly, just in your own eyes), remember that you hold the greatest treasure to the road to heaven.

NEW FEATURE: Story in a Pic: "Oh, GET A ROOM!!!"

They say a picture tells a thousand words. Well, I just saw this over a friend's Facebook wall and left the comment below:

A few minutes prior to taking that shot: Boy kisses girl on his left. She pushes him away disgusted. Boy decides to kiss the girl on his right instead. She gladly kisses him back. Girl on the left seething with newly formed jealousy: "Oh, get a room!!" *SNAP!*

This little attempt in story making has inspired me to create a new series (or feature) to this blog, and name it "Story in a Pic", where I'd post stories about what I see in some pictures. Readers are much obliged to add in their share of story thoughts!

The Most Hilarious ad of Ramadan! دعاية سوق السالمية 2010 - ستايلي و ستايلك

من أول يوم  رمضان و انا ميتة ضحك على دعاية "سوق السالمية" اليديدة

Ever since the first day of Ramadan & all laughs at the new "HILARIOUS" Souq Al-Salmiya ad!

حدها تعقد هالدعاية هههههه و أهم شي الأخير (اللي عاليسار) بو فنيلة تتراقص فوق و تحت! ههههه يموتني من الضحك!

و من الملاقة ما يضحك! قصدي يموت من الضحك! هههههه

بس انتوا لاحظتوا شلون تتراقص فنايلهم؟ جنهم صج تحت البحر! هههههه

تهقون هذا القصد؟؟؟

The three sailors' dancing "Tees" are utterly PRICELESS! hee hee xD
They look as if they're really in the water! hahaha! xD Amazing! You think that's why they made them look this way? Who knows, that's probably it.

Whatever the reason behind, it sure got us cracking up! hee hee

I'm Feeding!!! ;P

Being an English student, I've always thought I could do better at translation, & that it's one of my weakest skills, but whenever I see the hilarious (& ridiculous) attempts at translations here & there, I feel that I'm soooo underestimating myself!

Just watch any movie in English & check out the subtitles in Arabic; you'd find wonders!!! 

For example, the other day I was watching this movie when this guy tells this girl that she's hot:

Guy: "I think you're hot!"

Girl (to her bffs:) "He said I'm hot"

Wanna know how they came out in poor translation?

Guy: "أعتقد انك مليئة بالحرارة"

Girl: "قال إنني أتمتع بالحرارة"

Hilariously ridiculous & shameful!!!

Another example:

Eng: "Go straight ahead."

Ar: "امش بخط مستقيم"

Couldn't they use a more appropriate translation? What's wrong with "امض قدماً"?

Seriously, why don't they hire professionals to do the job & not depend on people who are poor at this job, or worse, depend a machine to do the translation without bothering to check up after it?! It's so ridiculous & really shameful! It sure makes me laugh, but come on!!! Translation is one thing & literal translation is a whole different thing!!!

But literal translation is not always the problem. Sometimes, the subtitles are worse than what was already said! (Gives more than the needed meaning). 

Example:

Eng: "She's not easy!"

Ar: "إنها ليست عا..." (a word that describes the woman that does kinda job)

I swear I could not believe my eyes! I was like, what the?? O.o!!! Usually, you'd expect it the other way around! 

I could go on forever listing examples as they are more than abundant, & do not only appear in movies. Like this hilarious find I just stumbled upon today:

"I'm Feeding"?? Feeding what? loool

I'm sure you all have your share of "Lost in Translation" examples, so please be generous & share some of the funniest you've stumbled upon with us! :D

When I opened Google today, I saw this:

I wondered what is going on.. I was like, Jan 26 is not a special occasion... Are they celebrating 'Hala February' or something? But even that doesn't start until two more days... so I moved my mouse on it & I just got this unexpected funny message!

& It's just as funny in Arabic! hee hee

Hahahaha! Celebrate people! According to google.com.kw, we should be celebrating the national day today!!! hee hee

"Alarm" - How LAZY are You??!

How lazy can one be? If You think you're lazy, think twice, you might not be as lazy as you think you are! Or, you might be just so, or even more!!

"Alarm" is the second short animated movie, by Moo-hyun Jang, a director of independent Animation team MESAI. It's a REALLY an AWESOME movie! Will get you cracking up, aaahhh-ing, & feeling frustrated all at once! You will feel the agony of waking up in the morning by the most hated device ever (in my opinion): the Alarm.

I HATE ALARMS!! I rarely use them anymore, (extreme measures only!), & watching this guy really brought back all the agonizing noise alarms make!

(Spoiler Alert!)

Hahaha! My absolute hilarious part is when he quickly shuts all three alarms & jumps back to bed, (that killed me!! XD!). I also loved the the milk scene! Omg! XD!

Everything Seems Sweeter Before Exams!

It's November, so it means it's time for exams!

I hate exams!

But who doesn't?!

I had a quiz today, my first this semester, & for the passed 3-4 days, I've been studying, & preparing for it. After all, it's an Arabic Exam! God, & it's all about grammar!

Well, I wouldn't really call it "real studying". The first three days, I was just skimming, bored to death, while listening to Michael Jackson's songs of the 90s. My real studying started 15 hours before the quiz to be precise.

Anyways, studying for this exam was nothing extraordinary. I procrastinated as much as I could! Let's face it, studying for a subject you love can be exhausting, let alone a subject you're not very fond of! Watching TV becomes very amusing & intriguing when you have to study for a quiz! You would watch anything, from movies to sitcoms, to different series that you had no prior interest in, in the first place! Even news seems amusing!!!

Not just watching TV, or going online, or playing video games would be more enjoyable during exams, but any exam hater- procrastinator would be glad to do whatever just to stay away from those humongous study books! You would want to take longer showers, & really try out the new fragranced shampoo & conditioner you bought two months ago. You would decide to tidy up your messy bedroom your mom begs you to tidy up every single day (even it was already tidy, you would gladly mess it up, then give it a once-over!). You would even chip in & help with the chores you normally hate doing. And you would like to linger & stay with your family, something you don't normally do!

You would spent hours on the phone, or IM chats with your friends, & start creating fairy tales, & laugh your head off, do whatever attracts you, no matter how silly it might be.

Also, (& that's more for the boys), you like to hang out & stay for longer hours than usual with your buddies assumed to be studying while you're actually cruising up & down the Gulf, & Love roads, the different malls of Kuwait, & even the local co-ops!! Any where, it doesn't really matter as long you're away from what's dreadful!

Then after the cloud of drunkenness evaporates, & you wake up with this huge hang-over that your conscious has burdened you with, you scurry in a hurry to grab any note book, & quickly flick through the pages, gaping at what seems to be a blur in a rush of adrenalin. You take a quick glance at the clock that feels like it's thumping along with your nervous frightened heartbeats. There's no time left; you gotta face the music!!!

Aren't we all like that? Have we all done this, even if for once?

Let's be honest, even nerds dread exams!

God, maybe it's a guilty-pleasure syndrome? You feel guilty, yet you wanna stay away for as long as you could muster!

Whatever it is, Humans fear the unknown, & worry about the future, & one way to avoid all this, is by not thinking about it. Just trying to forget, & trying to be free from all the anxieties.

Weird, isn't it?
