أنا ابي أفهم شي: ليش كله يقولون "العرس الديمقراطي"؟ منو المعاريس بالضبط؟ الكويت العروس يعني؟ انزين منو المعرس؟ المجلس؟ و الشعب شنو؟ المعازيم؟

من وين و شلون طلعت هالتسمية بالضبط؟

Make that Change: VOTE for KUWAIT 2012!!!

It's February the 2nd.

Time has come.

If you're Kuwaiti, over 21, then today's your chance to make a difference by practicing your constitutional given right: The right to VOTE.

I know, we've had it with the one-step-farward-ten-thousand-steps-back, the cloud of misfortune and corruption has bestowed upon us for years. With each election, we've kept our hopes high and wished for a better future, yet, things never seemed to change for the better. Most people have lost hope and a lot of them might not even be voting today. Do not be one of those.

I can see how hopeless they've become, I can relate, only when I remember that by doing so, we're only turning our backs on what really counts: Kuwait's right to PROSPERITY and GROWTH.

Do we want to turn your backs on our beloved Kuwait???

I don't! That's why I'm lifting my head up high and keeping it positive. That's the least I can give back to the precious land I proudly call "home". Never lose faith in Kuwait.

NEW FEATURE: Story in a Pic: "Oh, GET A ROOM!!!"

They say a picture tells a thousand words. Well, I just saw this over a friend's Facebook wall and left the comment below:

A few minutes prior to taking that shot: Boy kisses girl on his left. She pushes him away disgusted. Boy decides to kiss the girl on his right instead. She gladly kisses him back. Girl on the left seething with newly formed jealousy: "Oh, get a room!!" *SNAP!*

This little attempt in story making has inspired me to create a new series (or feature) to this blog, and name it "Story in a Pic", where I'd post stories about what I see in some pictures. Readers are much obliged to add in their share of story thoughts!

Desperate Housewives: Turkish Version!

Hello!!

How's everyone doing today? Enjoying the weekend? ;D

I was flipping through TV channels last night when I stopped on MBC4. I haven't religiously watched this channel in ages. There was a new Turkish series on. I was like, "Oh, is that a new Turkish series? But the shooting feels so incredible! Perhaps, it's a movie?" 

It was yet another new Turkish series. MBC4 once was my top favorite channel to watch with "only" western shows and nothing but, but now it's been smothered with Turkish drama (which I don't happen to hate, to be honest) & guess what? Arabic ones has been added to the mix too. If MBC keeps Arabizing this (once top favorite) channel, perhaps in the future, they're gonna be even dubbing those (now very few) western shows they are compromising us with & become totally like Fox. *Shudder*

Anyways, I'm not gonna be ranting about how MBC4 has changed in this post (maybe in another one), but let me talk about this new show that got me stopping in my channel-flipping. 

The program info stated that it has the title of "Nesa'a Ha'erat" (or however it was written - نساء حائرات), I was like, "What is this? An Arabic drama?" Then the dubbing reached my ears & I realized it was yet another new Turkish drama. As I said, I was taken by the wonderful shooting & wondered if it was a new series or a movie. Seeing Noor brought back a fresh memory of a promo I've seen recently for a new series that was coming soon. That was it.

It took me just a few minutes to realize it. The character Songul Oden (a.k.a Noor) was playing (which I happened to have liked instantly) was non other than the beloved character of Susan Mayer played by Teri Hatcher in the popular American drama Desperate Housewives. Of course, I didn't realize it right away, I had to see this other character - who was a playful blonde who keeps throwing herself at this man Noor was trying to get close to - for the switch or realization to get turned on. I was like, "Wait a minute... This looks very much like Desperate Housewives...Is it...?!!" 

And it sure was! Apparently, this is a Turkish version of the American drama!

My favorites in the American version are still my favorites in the Turkish one (so far), which pretty much tells that the acting, production, & direction is very well done (& that I mostly care about the characters).

Program starts at 9:00 KSA every Thursday night.

(For those who missed it last night, MBC4 is repeating it tonight at 6:30 KSA, or you can always watch it on Shahid.net).

"I'm Baaaaack!" - Take Two

Well.. Well.. Well..

Here we go again! 

How's everyone doing? I'm baaaaack! Again!!! loool :D

In case anyone of my lovely readers is actually missing my blog, enjoy my comeback! Take two! ;P 

Yes, I'm aware that I've already pointed out I was coming back like two months ago (yikes!), but as usual, distractions & sharing thoughts elsewhere (on my FB & Twitter pages) have been really pushing me away from my dear blog! I miss you, dear blog! I miss my humble number of readers! Even those who just pass by & never leave their thoughts! I miss the blogosphere, even though it certainly doesn't seem to be as popular as it once was. I've noticed that less & less reader comments are being submitted every day, at least here in Kuwait. Even the most popular blogs are getting far much less comments than, say, just a year or two ago. Now, I'm not talking about page traffic, so please, don't get me wrong. 

I wonder why.

Why aren't readers (of Kuwaiti blogosphere) leaving comments as much as in the past? For one major reason, I think I have to blame addictive social networks & mobile messaging for that. For example, Twitter has taken over the lives of Kuwaiti users especially in the last year, that a lot of them have virtually shifted from Facebook to Twitter! And then, there's WhatsApp, this highly engaging mobile messaging app that got more people really connected & made those who don't have it installed miss a lot & feel like such aliens. Having so many social networks one is a member of is definitely adding to the reasons why fewer readers are leaving comments anymore; they're simply being bombarded with millions of pieces of news & information by the second! 

And I can't say I haven't caught the bug. You see, due to the faster pace of life (which keeps getting faster & faster & never slowing down!), I've been finding myself sharing my thoughts & interesting things I find online in a Facebook post or a tweet. That's mostly what's been keeping me away from my beloved blog.

But I'm back! I miss the cosiness of "independence" & "ME" here. My own space where I share my most deep inner thoughts & journalistic covers. I have so much thoughts & ideas to work on to perfect my little space. I wish I get a lot of things productively done this year. One of my new year's resolutions is to bring my blog back to my priorities & make it far much better!!! 

Wish me luck, everyone! :D

HAPPY belated NEW YEAR to all! ;P 

May this year really becomes a better year for the whole wide world!!
