Yes Man!!! "Say YES To LIFE!!!"

I can't wait for Jim Carrey's new movie "Yes Man" that's coming out Jan 22nd in theatres across Kuwait. I've been avoiding any reviews related to the movie because some people just dont know how to describe something without spoiling it to others! I rather wait & see for myself thanks!

As a subscriber to Jim Carrey Online newsletter (yes I'm a Jim Fan!), I get all these yummy & juicy news every now & then, & I couldn't't help but drool on waiting & waiting for this movie to come!
Everyone knows how long I've been anticipating this movie (just like any other JC movie ...). I even have managed to convince my sister (who's not a JC fan! *rolls her eyes* LOL) on going to see it (as if I won't go if she says no!!! LOL)

So yesterday when I saw the 'coming soon movies' ad in the paper I let out a happy shriek (& maybe a littel dance?? I don't remember!) & said to mom (who's not the biggest fan either! lol - seriousely, how could we be related?? LOL) that his movie is gonna be shown next week, & my mom just rolles her eyes as she always do! LOL My mom makes me laugh!

So, God willing, after I go & watch it, I will be posting a review (with no spoilers, don't worry!)

I just hope it's gonna be great. After the last movie (23) which was a total disaster (can you believe I still haven't finished it?!)... I really wanna see something great!

But I'm sure it's gonna be good, considering the fact that it topped number one on the box office on its first week!

********************
So what's this movie all about?
Based on the best-selling book by Danny Wallace of the same title, Carrey plays a man who decides to say “Yes” to every opportunity that comes his way for an entire year in a new way of change turning his life totally upside down resulting in endless comedic adventures!

Here is the trailer:

you can also watch another trailer with a totally clear version here :)

P.S: Today's is Jim Carrey's 47's Birthday! (Wow, he's really old!!! Ha ha!)

Happy Birthday Jim! :D

When Will it End?

To all the people out there who have lost their children/beloved ones in wars ...

When ... When will the icicle melt?
And when ... When will the picture show end?
I should not have read the paper today
'Cause a child, child, child, child, he was taken away
There's a place for the baby that died
And there's a time for the mother who cried
And she will hold him in her arms sometime
'Cause nine months is too long

How could you hurt a child?
Now does this make you satisfied?
I dont know what's happening to people today?
When a child, he was taken away ...
There's a place for the baby that died
And there's a time for the mother who cried
And she will hold him in her arms sometime
'Cause nine months is too long

There's a place for the baby that died
And there's a time for the mother who cried
And you will hold him in your arms sometime
'Cause nine months is too long
Too long

*****

Have patience Ghaza ... Victory will come ... sooner or later.

OMG!!!!!! No! No!

What the ... ????!!! @@!!!!!!!

Has anyone seen "Alrai" newspaper yesterday????

Did you see the picture on the front cover???

What were they thinking??????????????

How could any Kuwaiti newspaper publish such a picture? And on the cover!!!!!!!!!!

Shame on you Alrai!!!! Really shame on you!!!!

I’ve always thought of this paper as an example of freedom & audacity, & I kinda admired that about them, but to publish such a horrendous picture on the cover of a Kuwaiti publication & to post it again inside on pages 8 & 9 !!!! That is just ...!!!!

If you haven’t seen the picture(s), it (they) was (were) about some teens celebrating the new year in the streets of Kuwait. Ok, what’s the problem??? What got me so disturbed & utterly disgusted?? The problem is not about a bunch of ignorant helpless teenage boys who were celebrating on the streets, the problem is what some of them were doing!
When celebrating anything, you will find people cheering & dancing. That’s normal & pleasant. But when something turns ugly, & some people dance “improperly” you can’t just look away!!!

Now if this was in some private celebration, I wouldn’t say anything. Each to their own. But when this happens in a public place, & to top it all, be published on the front cover of a Kuwaiti newspaper with no reference to the hideous attitude? No, I wouldn’t shut up.

At first, I really didn’t notice. My eyes just wondered about fast to scan all the pictures. But then my eyes spotted the repulsive posture of a couple of teenage boys. They were dancing.

Supposedly!!!

Arrrg I don’t wanna remember that!!! So disgusting!

Seriously!!! Did our children sink that low? & not privately as it’s always been, but publicly! & in front of cameras & cops nearby????!!!!!!!

What were they thinking? And by “they” I’m not referring to the boys, (because obviously they wern't thinking at all; they’re just a couple of ignorant-copycats-who-think-dancing-dirty-is-cool & awesome-whose-families-I-truly-feel-sorry-for). I’m talking about the paper. I'm talking about the one responsible for putting such an insulting picture on the cover of a newspaper! That picture does not only make me sick to my stomach but also insults every descent human being living here. At a time where there are wars everywhere around us, hatred, & terrorism, & at time where local issues are not at their best, we don’t need anything more embarrassing!

It’s great to find such a juicy material when you are a journalist, I know, but not everything can be published!!!!!

I really want those pictures to be removed from the paper’s site! Not for the sake of those ignorant teenage boys, but for us & their families (which I pray to God that they do care) & everyone who loves this precious land.

I'm not against the article as some people are. We need to know what young teenagers did on New Year’s Eve, even though we might not like it. But it’s not a good thing to publish everything. I really think the concerning 2 pictured should be removed as soon as possible. I don’t need to specify which two as I’m 100 % positive everyone will know which two I’m talking about.

Shame on the photographer who took those pictures …

Shame on the editor who chose to publish these pictures …

Really shame on Alrai newspaper!

I’m glad that I’m not the only one thinking that way. Several comments were posted on the article's page opposing these pictures. Here are some bits:

By خالد العنزي :
By فاتن الغريب :

By كويتيه تفتخر :

By بو علي :

& there are lots more opposing comments ...

My God forgives us for what some of us do ... "لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله"

"اللهم لا تؤخذنا بما فعل السفهاء منا"

I wonder if the cops have seen these acts being carried out right in front of them & whether they did something to stop such appalling manners …

If you are searching for a link to the page, you wont find one. I don't want to link that page in my blog. “ما يشرفني هالشي!”. If anyone wants to see it, they can go to the paper's site archive & see for themselves. It’s on yesterday’s, Jan 2nd.

Happy New Year"s" Everybody!!! ;)

Here we go again ... another year ends, & another is just around the corner ...
I have been neglecting my blog for quite a while now ... Got so much studying to do *pulls her face* but of course I wouldn’t miss a new year's coming without celebrating it on my blog, now would I? :P

In just a couple hours (or less), we will be welcoming yet another new year. 2009. It would still feel like 2008 in the first few days … Just like always, it will take some time getting used to. At the beginning of every year, I always tend to make a mistake & write/say the date mentioning the previous year …

But even though welcoming a new year should be fun & joyful, I always tend to feel a bit sad too. To say good bye to a whole year, makes me feel like losing something, especially if the year was great, & I had so many happy memories in it. To me, 2008 was a good year. I liked it very much. Especially the summer … when I have worked for the first time in my life, & did something new I really loved doing, & never thought I’d be able to do. I really loved my experience as a journalist writing for “Afaq”, the Kuwait University newspaper, & this experience is the 2008 special thing for me. 2007 was the “Expression” year, & 2008 is the “Afaq” year, or Journalism year, or first-job- experience-year … but I go for the journalism year as I had several courses in this subject this year, so I better call it that way :)
Since 2007, I have started to kind of “label” they years. Before that, I didn’t really notice what went into my life much, but once I decided I shall be more watchful on special events in my life, I could go back to years before 2007, & start labeling them. & today, I took a look back at some of the years of my life, & I have discovered that almost each year had its distinctive special thing about it. Cool, isn’t it?
Anyways, this blog isn’t supposed to talk about this, but it’s about wishing you a happy new year.

I hope 2009 will be even more interesting. I don’t know what will be the 2009 special thing. I just hope it will be as great as the great experiences I have enjoyed the previous years.

So to anyone who reads my blog, I wish you a happy, cheerful & blissful year. May this year be a peaceful year to the world, with less wars & disasters.

God bless,

& Happy New Year(s)*!!!

Some People Have ZERO Patience!

I'm so pissed right now! I still cannot let it go! I have to write about it!

Last night, I went to the bank to check out my balance & I used the car - drive. Now, there was just one car in fornt of me. I was relieved that there weren't too many people as I don't like to be crowded especially when money & privacy is involved! So being my private self, I kept quite a distance between me & the car infront. That's just me, I don't like to let people feel suffocated by me practically nudging them! But, alas! Not everyone thinks like I do, & not everyone treats people the way they wanna be treated! This car came after me, & ever since I saw it, I got the feeling I wasn't going to like it. And I was right.

The fornt car left, & it was my turn. I move a head & to my bad luck, I parked a little bit far so I had to re-park my car so that I could reach the machine perfectly. It wasn't perfect nor comfortable, but it was in reach. So I entered the card, punched in the pin code, twice becuase I missed a number, then a screen appeared. It wasn't the screen I wanted. Baffled, & a little nervous I was gonna make the car behind late, I took out my card & re-entered it to try again. The same happened. I was getting more nervous & annoyed because the car behind keeps flashing their brights at me! Don't people have some patience anymore? Wait a little! It's not the end of the world! The machine isn't giving me what I want! So I try for the third time, & this time I decided to draw in some cash, & see my balance after that in the recite. But the minimum cash withdrawal was 30 KD! I wasn't sure if I even have that! So, I chose cancel & type in the amount I want. I typed in 10 KD, but then something happened that I do not recall now, & somehow the page I wanted all along came on! So, by then, I wasn't giving up, & I had to see my balance. & I saw it, but I couldn't get a receipt , so I had to memorise it, but God, how hard it was to memorise with all that bright-flashing behind me!!! Couldn't you just wait a little!!! It's not like I've been there for ages! It was so fast, even though you might think it took so long with all these attempts! I was doing everything fast, but the impatient lady (I assume she was, I really couldn't see because I was concentrating on my thing) really messed me up! I tried so hard to forget it (I'm a patient person, I can let go on annoying drivers almost every time, but this one is not on the list!). Couldn't she wait a little? Doesnt she know that people should be concentrating on delicate matters? It's not TV I'm watching! She really bugged me big time! I even doubted that I might have forgotton to take out my recite, (but I didn't because I chose not to take any.) God! I hate people like this!

I really should've stopped & talked to her! But I just remembered it's Ramadan, & I better leave it to God. & I did pray to him to take my revenge!!!

I'm really pissed!
